Beliefs

I believe that:

  • All children can learn.
  • All children deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
  • Education is the great equalizer.
  • Teaching is the best job in the world.
  • Teaching is a noble profession. In fact, it’s a calling.
  • Relationships are the most important element of a classroom.
  • School does not need to be boring to be effective.
  • Teachers must also be learners and leaders.
  • Grades are a measurement, not an achievement.
  • Students are not defined by their grades and/or test scores.
  • Standardized tests are only one of many measures of performance.
  • The process is more important than the product.
  • Technology, when used responsibly, can improve our lives.
  • It is important to unplug every once in a while.
  • The best education is travel.
  • If you have a pen, you’re a writer.
  • It is my job to teach students HOW to think, not WHAT to think.
  • Questions are more important than answers.
  • It is more important to do the right thing than to be right.
  • Reflection is the gateway to learning.
  • FAIL = First Attempt In Learning.
  • Praise the child and she will blossom.
